We are happy to announce to that the Southwestern Region VI NAACP Civil Rights Advocacy Training Institute (CRATI) will be held at the Crown Plaza Hotel Houston Northwest Brookhaven, 12801 Northwest Fwy., March 31 – April 2nd. The theme for this year’s conference is: “Civil Rights under Siege: Planning for a Better Future”. The Region VI planning Committee is designing a slate of activities that will allow Region VI delegates to participate and enjoy the beautiful city of Houston and the State of TexasOur 2011 Regional CRATI will feature the blending of our Conference with the National NAACP Health, Membership and Stakeholder Relationship Departments’ “Let It Rise” 10-City Tour” There are three components of the 10-City Tour: (1) Faith Leaders roundtable discussion; (2) Revival and (3) Health Summit & Membership Drive.
Our invited guests this year include President/CEO Benjamin T. Jealous, NAACP Chairwoman Roslyn Brock, Congressman Al Green, Assistant Secretary of Agriculture Civil Rights Dept. Dr. Joe Leonard, Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins, and EEOC Chair Jacqueline Berrien. A special feature of the convention will be our Major Taylor Bike Ride that will allow up to 200 of our attendees to participate in a three mile bike ride on Saturday, April 2nd.
